The three-day exhibition of Bharat Nirman started at the APSP grounds here on Thursday. Over 50 stalls of various departments of central and state governments were set up to give information to public about the schemes in force in the respective wings.

Addressing the function after inauguration, collector Mr. Sudharsan Reddy said the basic aim of the exhibition was to reach out to public in remote areas about the government schemes so that the eligible families could make use of them. Besides the exhibition, seminars and workshops on popular issues would be conducted through out three days. The Collector promised to process the applications for ration cards submitted in the first and second phase of Rachabanda saying some of the applications were pending.

Mr. Katasani Rambhupal Reddy said the exhibition would help take the government schemes closer to public. He asked the officers to eliminate middlemen who were living like parasites on the poor. Also, certain schemes required fine-tuning to make them relevant to the needs of the poor. He pointed out that the self-help groups in Orvakal mandal were one of the best in the country and adopted many innovating schemes. Director General of PIB MVVS Murthy said the press information bureau was creating a forum for the public and the government departments through the exhibition.
