Minister Gollapalli Surya Rao, five MLAs miss the bus
Rajahmundry-II MLA ticket kept in abeyance
Three new faces get ticket
Rajahmundry: There are surprises and shocks as per the East Godavari’s Congress official list, which has been announced from Delhi on Saturday evening.
All the three sitting MPs-Vundavalli Arun Kumar (Rajahmundry), M.M. Pallam Raju (Kakinada) and Harsha Kumar (Amalapuram-SC) got tickets without any changes along with other 12 sitting MLAs out of 19 in the district. But, Rajahmundry-II MLA ticket is kept in abeyance as it is presently represented by the minister and Congress heavy weight Jakkampudi Rammohana Rao, who is ailing from last three years.
G.V. Harsha Kumar, who made long statements from Delhi and used his pressure tactics succeeded in getting ticket again, even though he is a critic of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
The big shock is for Gollapalli Surya Rao, minister for Small Scale Industries, who lost his constituency (Allavaram) in delimitation process missed Congress ticket along with five other sitting MLAs on different grounds.
Rajahmundry-I MLA Rowthu Suryaprakasha Rao succeeded in getting ticket through his past record.
The five MLAs who missed the bus are-Mutha Gopalakrishna of Kakinada who is facing allegations of land scam by his own party men; Krishnam Raju and Kudipudi Chittabbai of Razole and Amalapuram which were reserved for SCs were not accommodated in any other constituencies; Tetali Rama Reddy is kept aside, keeping his age and illness; Pendem Dorababu, who won on BJP ticket in 2004 and joined Congress party last year.
Sitting MLAs who got tickets again even though they lost their constituencies in delimitation are-Pamula Rajeswari from P. Gannavaram (earlier Nagaram), Pinipe Viswaroop from Amalapuram (Mummidivaram-SC from General) and Dommeti Venkateswarlu got ticket from Kakinada-Rural.
Congress party seems to have taken firm decision on Gollapalli Surya Rao, SC leader in Konaseema, who is in the midst of controversy of sand scam, which involved another Cabinet minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy .
He and his followers expected that he will be accommodated in Amalapuram (SC) reserved constituency.
But, he has been kept out of the race.
The new faces in Congress party this time are: Dwaram Chandrasekhara Reddy from Kakinada town , Rapaka Varaprasada Reddy from Razole (SC), Ponnada Satish from Mummidivaram (now General), Mudragada Padmanabham, former minister and TDP leader who joined Congress recently (Pitapuram), Nallamilli Sesha Reddy, who worked as MLC in a two-year term is now given ticket from Anaparti in place of Tetali Rama Reddy.
