It will be used as a platform to motivate Vysya youth to enter politics
The ‘Arya Vysya Maha Sammelanam' to be organised at Swaraj Maidan here on Sunday, which will be attended by Chief Minister K. Rosaiah as chief guest, will be used as a platform to motivate the Vysya youth to enter politics in a big way, the organisers said on Saturday.
The meeting will also highlight the need for giving proper representation to Vysya's in the elections to the local bodies, said APIIC chairman S. Sivarama Subrahmanayam, who is also the chairman of the reception committee for the programme, at a press conference. Nearly 3 lakh people were expected to attend the meeting that would begin at 3 p.m. “We plan to pass many resolutions seeking assistance for the development of the community's youth.
The meeting will be attended by the community's representatives from all the three regions of the State, besides presidents of the community organisations in six other states,” he said. Three MLCs and seven MLAs of the community, though belonging to different political parties, have been invited to attend the meeting.
Recalling that a similar meeting was held in 1977 in the city, ‘Arya Vysya Maha Sabha' State president Immadisetty Koteswara Rao said that Mr. Rosaiah had presided that meeting, which was attended by Jalagam Vengal Rao as chief guest. This time Mr. Rosaiah would be given a rousing reception by showering flower petals on him from a chopper during the meeting. Strongly rejecting the derogatory remarks allegedly made by TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu against the Chief Minister, Mr. Sivarama Subrahmanyam said that nobody should be criticised on the basis of caste-based profession.
“We will teach a fitting lesson to all the leaders and political parties that are belittling our community,” he said.
