The One Town police arrested three members of an inter-district gang and recovered 52 grams of gold jewellery and Rs.1.25 lakh cash. The arrested were charged with robbing passengers in buses from their pockets and bags. The arrested persons were Chandra Chinnaiah, Amavasya Venkataiah and Chandra Nagaraju, all of them belonging to Gudur and Pelluri areas in Nellore district. One Town CI K.V.V.S.V. Prasad and CCS CI Pavan Kumar Reddy said that the ‘gang' was committing theft for the last four months in the city. Two cases were booked against them in One Town, one in Two Town police station, one each in Governorpet and Suryaraopet police station limits.

In another case, the One Town police arrested a barber on temporary employment for stealing a gold coin weighing 2 gms from the hundi at the Durga Temple. Gosala Satish, barber, was accused of misleading the temple authorities before trying to rob the gold coin.
