Three DCMS and DCCB directors from Krishna district are in the race for the seven director posts of the Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing Federation (A.P.MARKFED).

Directors of some DCCBs that have transactions with A.P.MARKFED have eligibility to file nomination for MARKFED director posts. In all 1,079 DCMS and DCCB directors will cast their vote to elect seven MARKFED directors. The seven MARKFED directors will elect the chairman on March 5.

The Congress party has given its mandate to Krishna DCMS president Kanchi Rama Rao to be MARKFED chairman for two and a half years and to Vizianagaram DCMS president K.V.Suryanarayana Raju for the remaining two and half years.

But a follower of Krishna DCCB president Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao has filed nominations for the MARKFED director post. A follower of MLC Paladugu Venkata Rao is also among the 33 who filed nominations.

PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana and the ministers of the different districts have been given the responsibility to make those not having the party mandate to withdraw to avoid “unnecessary embarrassment” to the party.

The PCC chief and Minister concerned have to make 26 of the nominees to withdraw their papers before the deadline.

The followers of Mr Venkateswara Rao who was denied APCOB chairman post are seething with anger and see the MARKFED elections as a good chance to wreak vengeance.
