Three persons, including a boy, were feared drowned in separate incidents in Dummugudem and Chintur mandals on Tuesday.

According to the police, K Mahesh, 25, a native of Karimnagar district, had arrived at Parnashala in Dummugudem mandal to offer prayers at the local temple as part of a pilgrimage along with a group of Hanuman devotees on Tuesday afternoon.

While his friends travelled on the boat after taking a holy dip in Godavari river, Mahesh chose to swim across the river and reach the riverbed. However, he was pulled away by the strong current of the river while swimming and subsequently drowned in the middle of the river, sources added. His body could not be traced till late in the evening.

In another incident, a six year old boy and a middle aged man accidentally drowned while taking bath in Sabari river near Chintur on Tuesday evening.

Efforts to fish out the bodies proved unsuccessful till late evening.
