Three villagers, including a 10-year-old girl, died reportedly due to diarrhoea at Allamputtu village in Hukumpeta mandal in the Visakha Agency on Wednesday.

According to reports reaching here on Thursday, the deceased were identified as Vijaya Shanti (10), Bosanna (45), and Chinnamma (50). Twelve others of the village were admitted at the Area Hospital, Paderu. They are recovering.

However, District Medical and Health Officer R. Syamala said there were no reports of death due to diarrhoea from the village and a team of doctors was sent on receiving the information and a report was awaited.

She said that four persons — Krishna Rao from Kummalavalasa; Ramakumar from Samilipattu; Korra Sravani, a student of Tribal Welfare Residential School at Guda, and Majji Devi from Kondaveedhi village — were admitted to the Paderu Area Hospital on Wednesday with diarrhoea.

“They are recovering and will be discharged in a day or two,” Dr. Syamala added.
