Seeks implementation of service rules

  • 1.5 lakh apprentice teachers to be given 2 notional increments
  • Government indifferent to vacancies in School Assistant posts

HYDERABAD: The Progressive Recognised Teachers' Union (PRTU) has threatened to boycott the SSC examinations this year and also block examination centres if the Government doesn't respond to their long-pending issues of implementing combined service rules and promotions.

Mr. Venkata Reddy said, 1.5 lakh apprentice teachers should be given two notional increments, thus bringing them on par with other teachers for pension benefits. He said, 20,000 School Assistants posts are lying vacant but the Government is indifferent.

Mr. Mohan Reddy said, they would lay siege to the Directorate of School Education with 50,000 teachers on Saturday, as a protest against the lackadaisical attitude of the Government. "Teachers should not be held responsible and the Government would have to take the blame for the consequences," he said.
