A youth was arrested by the City Police on Wednesday on a charge of sending threatening SMSs to the girl he claims to have loved.
Giving details to the media, Inspectors P.V. Krishna Varma and C.M. Naidu (Cyber Cell) said that Rajasekhar, the accused, had discontinued the B.E. course. A native of Parvathipuram town in Vizianagaram district, he stalked a girl from the same town. The girl shifted to her relative's house at MVP Colony and joined a Polytechnic College on the outskirts of the city. When the girl stopped responding to his calls on the phone and having seen her talking to other boys in her college, Rajasekhar started harassing her with threatening SMSs. The threats started early this month but the accused used a different phone to conceal his identity. He threatened to pour acid on the girl's face. The victim informed the matter to her father G. Prasad, a school teacher in Parvathipuram.
They lodged a complaint with the Three Town Police on Tuesday. Three Town police in association with Cyber Crime cell traced the mobile. The accused was arrested at Parvathipuram and brought to the city.
Three Town Police are investigating the case.
