Thota Narasimham of the Telugu Desam Party seemed to have acquired more wealth in the last five years, as compared to his close contestants for the Kakinada Lok Sabha seat.
According to the affidavit, he has to repay Rs. 1.2 lakh loan to the Veeravaram Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society.
A peep into the Election Commission’s website has given an interesting piece of information. Along with the nomination for the Jaggampeta Assembly seat in 2009, Mr. Narasimham submitted an affidavit stating the total assets of his family as Rs.2.66 lakh, besides owning a Maruti car, Qualis vehicle and a Bajaj Chetak motorcycle (the market value was not mentioned). Union Minister M.M. Pallam Raju, who has been contesting for the third consecutive time on Congress ticket for the seat, has mentioned the total assets of his family as Rs. 11.35 crore and liabilities as Rs. 33.3 lakh. In the 2009 general elections, Mr. Pallam Raju stated in his affidavit that his family owned assets worth Rs. 6.55 crore and need to pay a loan of Rs. 11.12 lakh. The interesting part is the affidavit submitted by Chalamalasetti Sunil of the YSRC, who has shown a drop in the total family assets. In the recent affidavit, Mr. Sunil has stated the worth of his family assets as Rs. 10.19 crore and liabilities as Rs. 1.89 crore. When he contested for the same seat from the Praja Rajyam Party in 2009, Mr. Sunil shown the worth of his total assets as Rs. 11.03 crore and the liabilities were ‘nil.’
