He says party will again play an important role in national politics

TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu asserted that the rising power of regional parties was evident from the results of five States and this would spur the emergence of Third Front, in which the Telugu Desam would play a key role once again at the Centre.

“Congress will not win. The BJP is losing its credibility. Mulayam Singh Yadav's cycle has decimated these national parties. The TDP cycle will ride to victory,” said Mr. Naidu.

He addressed meetings in a road show in Indukuripeta mandal in Kovur Assembly constituency on Thursday.

Party leaders mobilised good numbers for his meetings at Jagadevpeta, Davispeta and other villages, where Mr. Naidu dwelt at length on the issues of national and regional importance.

Appeal

He appealed to the people not to vote for Congress and YSR Congress, but elect an honest and hardworking leader like Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, who is the TDP candidate for Kovur by-election.

Mr. Naidu made a dig at YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, saying that the latter was trying to put up a bold face in his election tours while the fact was that he hid himself in his Hyderabad home for one full day fearing arrest by the CBI. “He would have to pay a heavy price for the corruption he indulged in during his father's tenure. No religion had supported corruption,” said TDP president.

Relentless battle

Hitting back at criticism by YSR Congress leaders, Mr. Naidu asserted that it was the TDP alone that was waging a relentless battle against corruption and misgovernance of the Congress with the inspiration provided by NTR while other forces like Chiranjeevi had to ultimately bow down and merge with the corrupt Congress.

Mr. Naidu charged Congress with destroying all systems in the State in the past seven years with the government not in a position to provide good power supply for the needs of agriculture, children's study and so on.

There is a deficit of nearly Rs.30,000 crore in power sector now and tariff is likely to be increased anytime, he added.

Mr. Chandramohan Reddy and other leaders were present in the road show.
