Thieves took away belongings of about ten passengers in two trains in the wee hours of Monday. The loss of property is yet to be estimated.

According to Vijayawada Government Railway Police (GRP) Superintendent of Police M. Naganna, the miscreants stole the luggage of some passengers in Howrah and Kerala Express trains.

The passengers, who noticed near Renigunta that their bags and suitcases were missing, reported the matter to the Ticket Collectors (TCs) who lodged a complaint with the GRP in Vijayawada.

“We suspect that the thefts were committed between Katpadi and Renigunta stations and the culprits must have alighted the trains at around 2 a.m.

The cases would be transferred to Renigunta or Tirupati Railway Police for investigation,” said the SP.
