Gazetted officers of Prohibition and Excise Department of all three regions elect new body
While the division of different associations on the basis of regions has become the order of the day, the gazetted officers of Prohibition and Excise Department have shown a great amount of maturity at their general body meeting held here on Friday. Gazetted Officers of all the three regions – Telangana, Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema – attended the meeting. The general body unanimously elected office-bearers for 2013-15 with representation from all the three regions in the new committee.
The association members however agreed that the number of officers from Telangana was less when compared to the other regions. This did not prevent gazetted officer from Medchal D. Srikanth Reddy from contesting for the joint secretary post and getting elected unanimously. The association members said that the gazetted officers of the department had not gone to the extent of forming a separate association for Telangana.
There was ample time for formation of a separate association once the State was actually bifurcated. Newly elected president Yedlapalli Andinarayana Murthy is from Vijayawada. Addressing the mediapersons, Mr. Murthy said that the officers of the department would fight unitedly as “brothers” to resolve the problems they were facing.
While the State was facing a crisis, the association was not affected by it, he added.
