Collector, SP felicitate people with amazing talent in their respective fields

KARIMNAGAR: A retired English teacher Adepu Veeraiah set a milestone and entered the Guinness Book of Records by teaching English non-stop for about 60 hours in Sircilla town. Pulluri Prabhakar, a Maths teacher in the Government school in Illanthakunta mandal, would read in the mind and tell instantly the number of words in a sentence, a paragraph, a poem, a song or anything when read out loudly.

A weaver Nalla Parandhamulu of Sircilla town is known for weaving a silk saree, which fits in a matchbox. Poor students who had secured top marks in various examinations and many more unsung heroes of the district were felicitated by Collector M. V. Satyanarayana and the SP D. S. Chauhan here on Sunday in the presence of Lok Satta district president N. Srinivas, secretary T. Rajamouli and others.

Scholarship given

It may be recalled that The Hindu had highlighted the plight of the dalit girl Nyatha Anitha, who secured IIT-JAM 24th rank. Responding to the news item, the social welfare department had released scholarship for the entire five-year course in advance including her hostel expenses. Besides, several philanthropists had come forward and supported her morally by extending financial assistance.

In order to encourage the unsung heroes and the talented students, the Lok Satta district unit had conducted a programmed called `Deshamunu Preminchumanna' (love your country) and felicitating the luminaries in various fields of the district.
