Vani Jayaram enthrals music lovers

VIJAYAWADA: The stage was set and the lights flashed. Members of the orchestra tested their instruments. Rotarians and their families in large numbers settled down in their seats after exchanging greetings with their friends on the sprawling Andhra Loyola College Grounds -- the venue of annual conference `Renaissance' -- in the evening.

Holding a microphone, the quintessential Vani Jayaram had the audience spellbound with the popular number from K. Viswanath's `Swathi Kiranam' -- "Telimanchu karigindi talupu teeyana... " The magic of the melody queen's voice drew the attention of the crowd.

The singer had a word of praise for film director Viswanath, who was among the audience, before she began singing.

District governor of the Rotary club M.C. Das felicitated the singer. Film actor and writer Gollapudi Maruthi Rao was also present.
