This Sunday will shine brighter for the young participants of The Hindu Young World painting competition 2011.
Of the scores of paintings that landed in the office of The Hindu , judges had tough time zeroing in on ‘the best' ones. The weeding out exercise took longer than it was thought what with children weaving magic on the drawing sheets with a splash of colours.
Students participating in the final round are categorised as ‘juniors' and ‘seniors' and each of the two groups has 200 participants. Letters of intimation informing them about selection of their painting for the final round have been sent to the selected children. To be organised on the campus of V.P. Siddhartha Public School on Sunday (November 27) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the event is expected to draw children in droves with their parents in tow. The organisers will provide drawing sheets while the participants must bring their own colours, paint brushes and other paraphernalia.
The Hindu Young World painting competition is an annual jamboree which attracts students from schools located across coastal Andhra Pradesh. Schools in Krishna, Guntur, Ongole and West Godavari districts regularly send their kids to showcase their talent on the platform created by the newspaper organisation to unveil their innate talent. Miot Hospitals (Chime) is the title sponsor of the event while Amrutanjan Relief Cough & Cold is the national sponsor. The best three paintings will be selected and engraved on the cover/lid of Amrutanjan product.
The local partners of the event include Hi-Tech packaged drinking water as water sponsor and Swagruha Foods and Twins Restaurant as snack sponsors.
