It was a different day at school for students of Mahabubnagar Grammar School here on Thursday. Interacting with resource persons, updating their general knowledge and learning new tips to improve their skills, students had a new learning experience as The Hindu Newspaper in Education programme was launched here.

 The objective of the programme is to help students to use newspaper as an education tool and improve their skills in reading, writing, general knowledge etc. S. Archana and C. Radhika resource persons from Prism Publications conducted the Newspaper in Education (NIE) workshops at the school premises.

 Addressing the students, the resource persons informed that a newspaper is a guide and students could rely upon it for improving language skills as well as expanding their horizon.

 Later, the students were explained about the importance of NIE, newspaper reading habit and improving vocabulary skills etc. The resource persons urged students to identify new words by reading newspaper regularly and also make an attempt to solve the crossword puzzle published in the newspaper.

 Apart from guidance, students were given tips about how to read a newspaper and the role it plays in improving writing skills, vocabulary, crosswords puzzle etc. Special fun games that enhance mental ability were also conducted.

 In addition, students were explained about time management, stress management, goal setting and positive thinking. Mahabubnagar Grammar School Correspondent G. Rajender Reddy, Administrative Officer P. Aravind Reddy and staff members of the school coordinated the programme.
