Responding to the call given by The Rajahmundry Press Club, journalists from different newspapers and electronic media, staged a rasta roko and dharna in front of the Rajahmundry Urban SP’s Camp Office here on Saturday to protest the action of the police in barging into Mr. Nagesh Kumar’s house on Saturday in Hyderabad.
Journalists under the leadership of in charge president of Press Club Deekshitula Subrahmanyam, vice-president Janakiram and APUWJ State leader G. Bhushan Babu staged a rasta roko by forming a human chain. They were joined by Rajahmundry Bar Association president P.L.N. Prasad, AP State Bar Council Member Muppala Subbarao and member P. Ramakrishna. They gave a representation to the SP against the action of the police.
Mr. Subbarao described the action of the police of barging into Mr. Nagesh Kumar’s house as ‘unwarranted’ and ‘uncalled for’. He said that even though Mr. Nagesh Kumar got anticipatory bail from the High Court, how the police could enter his house. He said that this action could be construed as contempt of court. They sought immediate withdrawal of police cases against Mr. Nagesh Kumar and The Hindu . APUWJ leaders G. Bhushan Babu and M. Srirammurthy condemned the action by the police.
