The Telangana Gazetted Officers association has threatened to launch general strike if the Central government failed to introduce a Bill for Telangana State in the Parliament at the earliest.

Addressing newsmen after the association central committee meeting here on Saturday, association president A Srinivas Goud, general secretary E Srinivasa Rao and district president Paritala Subba Rao and others said officers belonging to other regions were harassing and discriminating the lower rung staff belonging to Telangana region.

As the political leaders of the region failed to work for the aspirations of people, the association was forced to work for the people getting involved in the ongoing separate Telangana agitation. The association would work in collaboration with the political JAC.

Association leader Srinivas Goud said a delegation of government employees would visit Delhi to meet important political leaders on Telangana demand and the need to introduce the Bill.

The association is also planning to organise a massive public meeting at Hyderabad soon which would be followed by the general strike on the separate Telangana issue.

The meeting passed resolutions demanding that the government procure the latest Pay Revision Commission report and implement the same within 100 days; treat the 42-day strike period as special leave; issue health cards immediately to all the members; introduce five day week work and enhance the retirement age to 60 years.
