The Jai Uttarandhra Organisation paid tributes to Tenneti Viswandham on his 115th birth anniversary on Wednesday.
Convener of the organisation J.T. Rama Rao garlanded the statue of Tenneti Viswanadham at the Tenneti Square (Jagadamba junction) and offered ‘palabhishekam'.
Mr. Rama Rao said Tenneti was responsible for creating a large number of jobs, directly or indirectly, by achieving the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant by leading an agitation with the slogan “Visakha Ukku, Andhrula Hakku”.
However, the decision being taken by the Central government would harm the interests of the plant and its employees, he said. Stage actor Bobbadi Appa Rao participated.
The Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant paid rich tributes to Tenneti, who played a key role in the establishment of the plant. The management conducted a function at a park named after him at Ukkunagaram on the occasion.
