Temperatures plummeted at several places in Andhra Pradesh as cold wave conditions prevailed in all the three regions.

According to reports, the temperature hovered between 5 and 6 degrees Celsius at Arogyavaram, Adilabad, and many other places. However, the India Meteorological Department said the lowest night temperature of 9 degrees Celsius was recorded at Medak.

The IMD issued a warning that both Rayalaseema and Telangana regions have come under severe cold wave conditions and there will be no respite for the next few days.

Meanwhile, the fresh cyclone threat to the State subsided as the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal weakened into a depression. On Monday evening, it lay over west central Bay of Bengal about 700 km of east north-east of Chennai and 450 km south-west of Visakhapatnam. It was likely to move west south-westwards toward the South Andhra and North Tamil Nadu coasts before getting downgraded into a low pressure area and dissipate, an IMD official said .

The IMD said the weather system would cause only moderate rains at many places in the State on Tuesday.
