The age old saying, “Sivaratri ki shiva shiva anukunta chali potadi”, seems to have come true as the day’s temperature at many places in Adilabad district crossed the 38 degree Celsius mark on Sunday.

Though the maximum day temperature during the last few days was pegged between 33 degrees and 36 degrees Celsius, the temperature on Sivaratri was the highest recorded in the season so far.

The effect of the heat was telling on people who came out in large numbers all through the day to visit Sivalayams in connection with the festival. The minimum temperatures also saw a rise during the last few days with Sunday recording 19 degrees Celsius as the lowest during the day.
