Books written by Dr. Venugopal Reddy released
Telugu literature will flourish as the language is sweet and expressive, writer and film director Tanikella Bharani said on Sunday.
Telugu has no dearth of writers who can leave an impact on the society, Mr. Bharani said at a book release and award presentation ceremony organised here by Mallemala Sahithi Samithi president Mallemala Vengopal Reddy. Creativity of writers should blossom with passage of time, he said.
Literature should serve the purpose of benefiting the society, film actor and writer Gollapudi Maruthi Rao said. Authors were writing with a positive outlook that the society would undergo a change for the better, he said. Mr. Maruthi Rao recalled his stint as AIR Station Director in Kadapa.
The film personalities lauded Dr. Venugopal Reddy for finding time to write books even as a medical practitioner. They released books ‘Chinthana’ and ‘Mallemala Kathalu’ written by Dr. Venugopal Reddy.
Congress MLC Shaik Hussain presided said happenings in daily life and people’s problems figure in Dr. Mallemala’s works. Vysya Prabhodhini Editor Paladi Lakshmikantham Shreshti, Shilparamam Special Officer G.N. Rao and others spoke.
Dr. Venugopal Reddy presented Mallemala Sahitya Puraskar to Central Sahitya Akademi awardee Kethu Viswanatha Reddy. Writers Singamaneni Narayana, Madhurankathakam Narendra and C.P. Brown Language Research Centre in charge R. Chandrasekhar Reddy said Mr. Viswanatha Reddy’s writing reflected a realistic picture. The Peetham was set up to rejuvenate the District Writers Forum, Dr. Venugopal Reddy said. Forum members A. Rajendra Prasad, P. Viswaprasada Reddy and others participated.
