Congress MLAs involved in the Samaikyandhra agitation have hailed the decision of the Telangana RTC employees to withdraw from the ‘Sakala Janula Samme'. The decision will help mitigate the inconvenience being caused to the general public, they opine.
The MLAs, at a press conference here on Sunday, said that “selfish politics” of TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao now stood exposed as he showed interest in getting bail for his daughter and other members close to his family and did not show similar concern for those who were arrested and jailed in the ongoing rail roko agitation in the region.
Samaikyandhra MLAs Forum convener Jogi Ramesh and Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu renewed their appeal to the Telangana employees to withdraw from the strike, considering that the region's political leaders had misled them but did not actively participate when the strike took a critical turn. “We hope the employees will also resume their duties. The State will then experience peace and normality as in the past,” they said.
Mr. Ramesh and Mr. Vishnu said the employees should see through the exploitative designs of the TRS leaders and how they were misled into believing that separate statehood would be possible by inconveniencing the public. They further said that Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao was known for creating needless trouble. His tactics had resulted in causing unforeseen problems for people in all regions. They questioned as to why Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao secured bail only for his daughter Kavitha in such a hurry while ignoring the plight of thousands of leaders and ordinary activists who were struggling due to their involvement in the rail roko protest. MPs, MLAs, employees, lawyers, and others were remanded to judicial custody during the rail roko agitation. Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao should give an explanation for causing hardship to so many people without realising its repercussions, the MLAs added.
