Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao said the people of Telangana have not only been discriminated in allocation of water resources and funds but their culture, language and dialect have also been attacked and belittled in the united Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking after releasing the poster on ‘Bangaru Bathukamma’ celebrations being organised by Telangana Jagruti from October 4 to 12 here on Saturday, Mr. Rao said injustice was being done to the region all through since its merger with Andhra in all respects. Not only the region denied its judicious share of river waters and funds but its culture and language were being disrespected and flayed in the united State.

He complimented the efforts being made by Telangana Jagruti headed by his daughter K. Kavitha in enlightening the people about Telangana culture and also reviving and restoring it. He stressed the need for setting up a cultural university after formation of Telangana State to protect the region’s culture including festivities and popularise it for passing on to future generations.

Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao explained that Telangana languague had several Urdu words imbibed in it since the region was ruled by the Nizams and Urdu originated here. Similarly, the language in Seemandhra regions had the impact of English since it was ruled by the British before independence. “That does not mean the language what Seemandhra people speak alone is Telugu,” he observed.

However, after merger of Telangana and Andhra the culture, language and dialect of the former was being attacked continuously by the latter. Telangana dialect was being shown in poor light by cinema and television mediums dominated by Seemandhra people, the TRS chief alleged.

A compilation (CD) of ‘Bathukamma’ songs was also released by TRS MLC Mahmud Ali on the occasion. Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha, former minister Capt. V. Laksmikanth Rao and others participated.
