There is a need to conduct regional-level reviews in the construction of multi-storeyed buildings, International technical expert and Director of Cochin Shipyard S. Narasimha Rao has said.
Participating as chief guest at the valedictory of the four-day technical workshop on ‘Quality constructions and basic amenities' organised by Gayatri Vidya Parishad Engineering College (GVPEC) on Saturday, he said the State Government had constituted an expert committee to conduct a survey on the recent collapse of the ‘gopuram' of Sri Kalahasti temple.
He said the committee had also surveyed the ancient buildings in Sri Kalahasti, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Bobbili. He spoke on the precautions that needed to be taken in fault zones.
