Hyderabad: Many areas in the city experienced tedious power cuts on Friday night owing to a technical snag in a power transformer of the 220-KV Chandrayangutta Substation.
Oil leakage in the 160-MVA transformer resulted in cascading power cuts in localities falling under the purview of all 33-KV substations dependent on Chandrayangutta for input supplies.
Outages were half an hour to one hour durations were reported from many areas on old city and part of the Ranga Reddy zone.
Even areas such as Moosarambagh, Santosh Nagar, Asmangadh and Kothapet had prolonged blackouts and residents had to put up with untold misery on a summer night.
Officials from the CPDCL informed that the transformer would be restored by Saturday.
