A tearful farewell was given to former Deputy Chairman of the first Legislative Council and industrialist G.S.Raju. The Vijayawada City police formed a guard of honour in front of the Andhra Ratna Bhavan when his mortal remains were brought there before being taken for cremation.
Joint Collector Usha Kumari participated in the guard of honour on behalf of the State government. The guard of honour escorted the vehicle to the Eluru Road.
Legislative Council Chairman A.Chakrapani, Ramco Group chairman P.R.Ramasubramanya Rajha, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, former MPs Chennupati Vidya, Gadde Ramamohan, Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, industrialist Chukkapalli Kusalava were among those who paid homage to the veteran Congress leader at his house. Mr Rajagopal and Devineni Avinash were among those who paid floral tributes at Andhra Ratna Bhavan.
From the house in Ashok Nagar the body was taken to SIRIS Company and then to the Andhra Ratna Bhavan. Close relatives TTD Chairman Kanumuri Bapi Raju and Laila Group CMD Gokaraju Ganga Raju were present at the cremation on the banks of the Krishna on Siris Raju’s estates near Undavalli village.
