Tearful adieu to slain Army jawan

People of Sundaravaripalle village of KV Palle mandal of Piler constituency paid floral tributes to the mortal remains of the slain soldier, Doddipalle Kirankumar Reddy, when his body arrived at his native village on Saturday morning. The Army jawan was killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. His body was flown to Renigunta airport on Friday night, and reached the village by road in the morning. A contingent of Army personnel escorted the vehicle carrying his body to the village.

Keeping the body for public viewing till 11.30 a.m., it was later cremated with full military honours.

His friends from all over the constituency thronged the cremation spot and burst into tears. The soldier did his studies in Piler before joining the army 12 years ago.

District Collector K. Ramgopal, Superintendent of Police Kanti Rana Tata, and senior officials of the district administration and local leaders of the various political parties called on Reddy’s parents and wife and consoled them. Police personnel from the Piler circle were also present.
