A 40-member team comprising Asian Development Bank officials and representatives of water users' panchayats from Odisha toured the Kotagiri mandal to study the functioning of Water Users' Associations (WUA), their constitution, water supply to farm lands and collection of water tax from farmers, on Saturday.

The members evinced keen interest in knowing the support that is being extended by the government to farmers. The Eklaspur WUA president Sharathkumar explained to the team how the associations had been functioning and how the water released from Nizam Sagar Project was being used by farmers.

The Water and Land Management and Training Research Institute, a State-government agency providing training to farmers organised the tour.

The ADB officials Sachin, Dathu and Narendra Naik were part of the visiting team from Odisha.
