PRTU leader and MLC, B. Mohan Reddy, has said that the teaching community in the region will always be in the forefront in the agitations to achieve Telangana State and also to protect their rights.

Addressing the dharna camp of the Progressive Recognised Teachers’ Union in front of the Collectorate here on Saturday, he demanded that the government constitute the 10th Pay Revision Commission (PRC) by June end to revise the pay scales of teachers and employees as they were being burdened with the increasing prices of all essential commodities.

He said that the teachers would wage a relentless fight for Telangana during the Sakala Janula Samme and they would always be ready to strike work to achieve the twin goals of Telangana and PRC. He alleged that in the Department of Education, Seemandhra officials were dominating.

PRTU district president Kamalakar Rao and general secretary E. Sankar too spoke.

Correspondent adds: Protesting over the delay in the formation of Telangana, members of the PRTU district unit staged a dharna near Telangana Chowk, here on Saturday.

They demanded that the government constitute the 10th PRC soon.

They also demanded for the release of district level seniority list of teachers. The dharna was led by PRTU district president and secretary Sathyanarayana and Raghuram Reddy respectively.

Local MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy, who extended solidarity to the agitating teachers criticised the government for adopting tactics to dilly-dally.

He also claimed that government had miserably failed to solve problems being faced by teachers as well as people and asked the government for the 10th PRC.

Staff Reporter adds: Teachers affiliated to the PRTU district unit staged a dharna in front of Collectorate here on Saturday demanding that the Union government carve out a separate Telangana State at the earliest.
