NIZAMABAD: As part of their ongoing agitation, teachers under the banner of the Joint Action Committee of Teachers Organisations (JACTO), held protest demonstrations in front of the residences of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president D. Srinivas and three other MLAs -- P. Sudarshan Reddy (Bodhan), Akula Lalitha (Dichpally) and Bajireddy Govardhan (Banswada).
They raised slogans against the government and demanded the early solution to their charter of demands. They condemned the anti-teacher policies and apathy of the government in solving their demands.
Leaders from the Andhra Pradesh Teachers Union, Democratic Teachers Union, Progressive Recognised Teachers Union, State Teachers Union, Andhra Pradesh Upadyaya Sangham and United Teachers Federation participated in the agitation.
Karimnagar Staff Reporter adds: Teachers affiliated to the Joint Action Committee of Teachers Organisations (JACTO) have staged massive dharnas in front of the residences of Minister for Endowments J. Ratnakara Rao and APSRTC Chairman M. Satyanarayana Rao and in front of Zilla Parishad where Minister for R&B T. Jeevan Reddy was participating in the general body meeting on Sunday.
Mr. Jeevan Reddy came out of the ZP conference hall and met the teachers agitating in front of the ZP office. On this occasion, he assured to solve their demands by taking them to the notice of State government. He said that he would raise the issue during the Cabinet meeting on October 30.
Tough time for police
Sangareddy Staff Reporter writes: Teachers staged a dharna before the residence of Primary Education Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha. The police had a tough time as the teachers came in batches one after another agitating before the residence of the Minister.
They were arrested and released later. Teachers also staged dharna before the residence of Major Industries Minister J. Geeta Reddy at Gajwel, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy at Narasapur and Suresh Shetkar at Narayanakhed.
