VIJAYAWADA: The Telugu Desam Party was trying to take the youth of the State for a ride by luring them to meetings with cine glamour, Congress leaders Mallika Begum, Kolanukonda Sivaji and Adusumalli Jayaprakash said on Monday.
Addressing a press conference, they said that TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu had completely ignored the youth when his party was in government for nine years.
The Congress leaders said that ‘Yuva Garjana’ being planned to project the “heirs” of NTR was “misconceived.” Though NTR announced his son and film star N. Balakrishna as his successor, Mr. Naidu did everything to relegate him from party ranks. But today,
when the tide was turning against him, he was trying to use the NTR legacy to his advantage, they alleged.
The Congress leaders said that the people had not forgotten that Mr. Naidu became the Chief Minister after “backstabbing” the founder of the TDP. “Where were the so-called heirs who are claiming a right over NTR’s legacy when Mr. Naidu backstabbed him?” they asked.
