The Babli project will be one of the most important issues raised by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the ensuing Budget session of the Legisative Assembly.
The party will demand that the government file a review petition in the Supreme Court with all the details on the project and its impact in North Telangana.
TDP Adilabad district president G. Nagesh told The Hindu on Sunday that his party will also demand that the government form an all party committee to look into the issue and visit the site if necessary.
It may be recalled that the TDP had staged a protest a couple of years ago at Dharmabad town close to the location of the controversial project but the MLAs and party president N. Chandrababu Naidu had been bundled out of the State after allegedly being ill-treated by the police there. Mr. Nagesh said the TDP had no plans to enter Maharashtra once again to stage a protest.
