The TDP (Urban) unit will launch an agitation to press for increasing the income limit for Backward Classes and SC/ST categories for sanction of scholarships.

TDP (Urban) president Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar told reporters on Wednesday that for three days beginning Thursday a dharna would be held at GVMC office. On July 29, a “Chalo Collectorate” protest would be taken up and if there was no response college bandh would be called on the next day. The limit should be increased from Rs.1 lakh to Rs.2.5 lakh for BCs, EBCs and minorities and to Rs.3 lakh to SC/ST categories. Mr. Ganesh Kumar said the first phase of panchayat results had proved that the TDP’s hold on the electorate in rural areas.
