KURNOOL: TDP district convener Somisetty Venkateswarlu has urged the government to take up construction of floods walls around Kurnool city and breach closing at Sunkesuala barrage to save the city from the recurring floods. Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, he said the Congress government was neglecting two important structures that posed threat to Kurnool city. If the breach in the Sunkesula barrage was not filled before the onset of monsoon, the safety of Kurnooly was in jeopardy. He said the government proposed to increase the height of the dam and the number of vents but nothing was finalised due to dispute between the Congress leaders and the contractors. Also, Mr. Somisetty Venkateswarlu urged the government to take up construction of flood walls which were sanctioned by former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
