The TDP has rebutted the Congress’ claims on diversion channel and flyover near Durga temple.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, TDP urban affiliated organisations in-charge K. Pattabhiram said Congress leaders A. Siva Nagendra and M. Rajeswara Rao made false claims on the two projects. They claimed the government had sanctioned Rs.200 crore for the diversion channel from Janda Chettu junction to the Krishna canal while the fact was that only Rs.1.80 crore was sanctioned if the tender notices issued by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) were to be believed, he said. Similarly, the Congress leaders asserted that the government allotted Rs.90 crore for preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the flyover near the temple. The total cost of the flyover project was estimated at Rs.36 crore.

Vijayawada (West) MLA V. Srinivasa Rao asserted that Rs.90 lakh was to be released for preparation of the DPR and the Congress leaders put it as Rs.90 crore.

These contradictory statements indicated that the Congress leaders had no knowledge of the facts. They were hoodwinking the people. The TDP threatened to take to legal recourse if the Congress leaders continued to spread falsehood. Reacting to remarks against Buddha Venkanna, Mr. Pattabhiram said the TDP was like a family. Responsibilities change, like in a family, according to the party requirements. TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu gave new responsibilities to Mr. Venkanna and Nagul Meera, he said.
