VISAKHAPATNAM: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu avoided his birthday celebrations organised by local party leaders on Thursday.
A huge cake, weighing 56 kg to mark Mr. Naidu's 56th birthday, was made ready at the press conference. However, Mr. Naidu who always avoided birthday celebrations did not like the idea of cutting the cake and sent a clear message when party vice-president and former MP M.V.V.S. Murthi tried to wrap a silk cloth around him on the dais.
As Mr. Naidu commenced the press conference, local leaders got the message and quickly removed the huge cake.
Later, Mr. Naidu visited Sri Varahalakshmi Narasimhaswami temple atop Simhachalam and offered puja. He embraced the `Kappa stambham' on the temple premises. People believe that any wish made while embracing the pillar would be fulfilled.
Hyderabad Staff Reporter writes: The birthday was low-key affair here. Mr. Naidu landed in the city from Vizag after noon and drove straight to the party headquarters where senior leaders greeted him.
