ELURU: The district unit of the TDP is posed to make its `Maha Dharna’ to be staged at Tadepalligudem on October 25 under the leadership of its president N. Chandrababu Naidu, a grand success. The dharna is intended to focus on the problems faced by farmers, which include a raw deal for paddy. The party chose Tadepalligudem, the heart of the paddy-rich West Godavari district, to highlight the alleged indifference by the Congress in resolving the plight of farmers. A district-level meeting held here on Monday targeted mobilizing one lakh people for the dharna, according to party spokesman Pali Prasad.
Mr. Naidu will lead a roadshow on the Rajahmundry-Tadepalligudem State Highway, covering several villages en route, before his arrival to the place of the dharna from Rajahmundry. Mr. Naidu will spend three hours during the dharna. The TDP demands Rs 1,200 per quintal of paddy.
