State faulted for not taking up cloud-seeding operations
‘TDP had never allowed people to suffer power cuts’
‘Congress unmoved by concerns of farmers’
ANANTAPUR: The activists of district unit of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and its frontal organisations performed ‘Varuna yagam’ in the NTR circle here on Tuesday praying for rains. They took out a procession by carrying ‘kalashams’ on their heads and performed the yagam amid Vedic chants.
Speaking on the occasion, former member of Rajya Sabha K.M. Saifullah said TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu had never allowed the people to suffer power cuts in spite of poor rains for four years by planning and foresight in the matter of power purchase and regulating the distribution.
But, lack of foresight and planning by the present Congress government had forced the people to suffer the worst ever power cuts in the last 10 years.
He alleged that the government was unmoved by the concerns of the farming community as it had not made any efforts like taking up cloud-seeding operations so far, even as the time for sowing was lapsing fast. The cloud-seeding operations were not taken up even after the announcement by Minister for Agriculture and Rain Shadow Areas N. Raghuveera Reddy last week that the exercise would be taken up within a week.
The TDP leader sought to know why rains were not occurring in the district even after the visit of the district Ministers if they were good omen to the people.
He rebutted the Congress leaders’ criticism of TDP president Mr. Naidu that rains were not occurring in the State as the latter was touring the State as part of his ‘Mee Kosam’ campaign.
