WARANGAL: The TDP MP and politburo member Mr. Errabelli Dayakar Rao has threatened to go on fast at the Parliament during the next session protesting the ongoing construction of Babli and other projects by the Maharasthra government endangering the SRSP.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr Dayakar Rao said he promised to fight for the protection of SRSP waters to the Telangana region during the recent byelections. The ongoing construction of several projects on river Godavari by the Maharasthra government were illegal. They only prove danger to the people of Telangana. The Babli project would prevent water from flowing into the SRSP that lifeline to several districts of Telangana region in Andhra Pradesh.

“While contesting the election, I urged people to vote for me and I promised to take up the cause at national level. My proposed fast will bring to the light the injustices meted out by the Maharasthra government and indifferent attitude of Andhra Pradesh government in prevailing upon the Maharasthra government to stop the Babli and other projects,” he said.

Dharna staged

Earlier in the day, the TDP workers staged a dharna at Ambedkar statue what they said protesting the withdrawal of gunmen to Mr. Dayakar Rao.Asked about the reduction of security cover for him, Mr. Dayakar Rao said that he had taken up the issue with the Chief Minister, the DGP, and the Home Minister.

“My security has been drastically reduced. Many guards were withdrawn. I would send back the remaining gunmen too if the government failed to revoke its decision.

I am under constant threat from my Opponents in Congress and others,” he said.
