‘Majority of the streetlights not being repaired causing inconvenience to the public'
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) town unit leaders have staged a novel dharna by carrying torch lights in Karimnagar on Tuesday, protesting against the Municipal Corporation authorities for not switching on the streetlights leaving several localities in darkness.
The TDP leaders led by its town president O Satyanarayana Reddy participated in the dharna by carrying torch-lights. They alleged that the municipal authorities were not switching on the street lights and majority of the lights were not repaired forcing the residents to live in darkness.
They urged the Municipal Special Officer and Collector Smita Sabharwal to take appropriate measures to ensure that the town was illuminated properly. They said that the people living in colonies on the outskirts of the town were suffering in darkness due to few streetlights and they were worried about the poisonous creatures and anti-social elements.
