Senior Telugu Desam Party leader from Anantapur district, Varadapuram Suri on Monday levelled serious allegations of corruption running into crores of rupees against Minister for Revenue N. Raghuveera Reddy.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Suri said that G. Narayanaswamy being the sole complainant (presumably a follower of Suri besides being the TDP office in-charge at Dharmavaram) had filed a petition a few months ago with the Lok Ayukta seeking an inquiry into the charges of corruption levelled by them.
Later, the Lok Ayukta, served notices to both parties -- the complainant as well as the Minister -- asking them to present themselves on December 23 for the arguments on the maintainability of the petition.
Meanwhile, speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Suri alleged that Mr. Raghuveera Reddy had investments in Agni Aviation, which was involved in cloud seeding during the previous Congress government headed by YSR. Mr. Raghuveera Reddy was the Minister for Agriculture then. “While there has been no result absolutely, the government covered up for the same, faking the results. More than 60 per cent of the proceeds amounting to Rs. 170 crore have been pocketed by Mr. Raghuveera Reddy, being an investor in Agni aviation,” he alleged.
He also alleged that Mr. Reddy in his capacity as a Minister for Agriculture, was involved in corruption in the mass plantation drive of Jatropha plants across the district and the State earnings crores of rupees. “For somebody who was troubled to pay the bills of his cold storage units before he became a Minister, is today worth crores,” Mr. Suri argued.
On the other hand, Mr. Reddy has not come out either denying or refuting the allegations raised by Mr. Suri.
