Former Minister and TDP district president Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy has demanded that the government order an enquiry into the allocation of lands along the coast to various Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Nellore district.

Speaking to newsmen here on Wednesday, he said the government has allocated some thousands of acres of land on the sea coast violating norms and large-scale irregularities have taken place in land acquisition process.

Recalling that the Telugu Desam has been talking about corruption in land acquisition since two years, he asked the rationale behind sanctioning 12 power projects in a stretch of 20 km in the district. Will the government open its eyes over excess sanction of power plants in the district after killing a few people in the incidents like Sompeta and Srikakulam district, he questioned.

Alleging that the district administration colluded with some SEZ managements and was giving tanks, creeks and other natural bodies violating the rules, he said the officials have failed to prevent corruption and the ongoing Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) inquiry is a glaring example over the involvement of officials in the scam.

The TDP will reveal the facts on irregularities with evidence soon, he said and called upon the District Revenue Association leaders to grill the bureaucrats on land scams in the district.
