Telugu Desam president and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate a blood bank established by the NTR Memorial Trust, near Raghavendraswamy temple here on Sunday morning.

Latest equipment worth Rs.1.5 crore was installed at the blood bank which has a capacity of 3,000 units which will be increased gradually, said CEO of Symbiosis Technologies O. Naresh Kumar on behalf of CEO of NTR Trust M. Venkat, at a press conference here on Friday. The blood bank would be fully operational in a week.

Mr. Naresh Kumar has donated Rs.10 lakh for the blood bank and others contributed Rs.10 lakh.

NTR Trust had earlier established blood banks at Hyderabad and Guntur. It does not collect processing charges from patients suffering with Thalassemia, sickle cell anaemia and haemophilia and poor patients.

Other activities of NTR Memorial Trust are providing safe drinking water plants in the areas having high concentration of fluoride in water; providing free medicines to the poor and helping poor students till they get employment and providing help to victims of natural disasters.

It has provided 50 water plants so far and would install 60 more this year. Rs. 5 crore worth medicines were distributed to 15.6 lakh poor patients and nearly 3,850 students were provided financial help.

It has established NTR Model School near Hyderabad for poor children. Under entrepreneur development programme, the trust provided financial assistance of Rs.4.91 crore to 681eligible entrepreneurs through banks.
