Telugu Desam party president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s ‘Vastunna Meekosam’ padayatra will enter Medak district on Sunday at Banoor.
The party has been making all out efforts to woo leaders from other parties into its fold and some of the efforts have proved fruitful.
The first casualty was Congress party and the TDP was successful in poaching Kanthareddy Tirupati Reddy from the district. He will join the party in the presence of Mr. Naidu.
The party also made some efforts to attract leaders from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) too. Though the TDP was successful partially, TRS leaders contacted by the TDP have not yet taken a decision. It seems as though they want to wait and see till the last minute if they get a better post in their present party or with the jump.
On the other hand, the TRS has decided not to obstruct the tour programme of Mr. Naidu in Medak district. This was decided at a party meeting held at Hyderabad recently. However, it has a rider line. The protests would be organised in the name of Joint Action Committee (JAC) across the district in which party leaders will take part. On Saturday, the JAC held a protest rally at the district headquarters demanding that the TDP president clarify his stand on Telangana. Party leaders Chinta Prabkahar, former MLC R. Satayanarayana, former municipal vice-chairman Jalaluddin Baba and others participated in the programme.
On Sunday, Meekosam will resume at Chevella constituency in Ranga Reddy district and enter Patancheru constituency at BDL gate and touch Banoor, Kyasram and Ordinance Defence Factory at Yeddumylaram.
