TDP chief seeks to allay fears of Muslims

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu assured the Muslim minorities that he would safeguard their interests

Addressing a public meeting here on Wednesday, Mr. Naidu said he would ensure that Muslims’ property and aspirations in this State and country are safe”.

Mr. Naidu tried to negate the effect that the TDP-BJP alliance might have on the Muslim voters.

TDP contestants from the district besides, the lone BJP contestant from Guntakal constituency were present.

“Everyone accepted the possibility of a farm loan waiver, except the YSRC. We will clear farm loans of Rs. 60,000 crore in a planned manner,” Mr. Naidu said.

In an effort to woo voters from Balija caste, (Anantapur Assembly ticket was denied to Mahalakshmi Srinivas of Balija caste, which prompted him to move away from the TDP), he said that the TDP would initiate steps to include Balijas in the Backward Caste category.

He also promised that he would ensure that people would be supplied 20 litres of packaged drinking water for Rs. 2 even as he said that a TDP government would provide mobile phones to all women to ensure their safety by being able to communicate with the security forces whenever necessary.

Coming down heavily on Jaganmohan Reddy, he said that Rs.16,000 crore worth land in Bayyaram was given away to his sisters family illegally and appealed to the people to teach them a lesson.

“The TDP will form the government in the State and NDA at the Centre,” Mr. Naidu said and appealed to the people to support the BJP candidate from the Guntakal Assembly constituency.
