Telugu Desam Party district president and Mylavaram MLA Devineni Umamaheswara Rao has criticised Chief Minister K. Rosaiah for what he described as the latter's indifferent attitude towards considering the demand of the youths for conducting the SI examination. He demanded that the dates of SI exam be announced immediately without scope for further problems.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Rao said that while the students were coming on to the roads organising dharna, the Chief Minister did not even bother to take a look at the issue of conducting the examination.

Mr. Rosaiah was more interested in giving importance to his felicitation functions than resolving the problems of the unemployed youth in the State, he added.

Mr. Rao said that nearly 18,000 youngsters had been eagerly waiting for the last two years to appear for the SI recruitment examination and they were worried about crossing the upper age limit if the examination was delayed further.

The TDP MLA asked Minister Botcha Satyanarayana to come and face the hostile students on the university campuses in Andhra and Rayalaseema regions if he really considered as meaningful his remarks that there would be no problem even if examination was delayed.

Mr. Rao said it was totally “irresponsible” on the part of the Congress leaders to demand that TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu spell out his stance on the issue though it was the Congress government that should find a solution to the vexed issue.

The Congress threw the State into heavy turmoil ever since its formation of the Government and the problems engulfed all sections of society from farmers to traders to students, he added.
