The Telugu Desam Party on Monday sought to link the ‘delay' in the arrest of YSR Congress president Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, listed as accused number one by CBI in his assets case to his ‘impending return' to the Congress.

Party spokesman, A. Revanth Reddy alleged that there was no other reason for ‘going slow' on the arrest but for a compromise being worked out behind the scenes between the Congress and the YSR Congress. Ironically a quid pro quo deal was being hammered out in this case too as part of which the Congress was building pressure on CBI to dilute the case against Mr. Jagan to enable him to go scot free, he added.

People were raising doubts on why Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy was being given ‘special treatment' while most of the others accused in similar cases were put behind the bars, he said while referring to the arrest of the first accused in Emaar case.

He went on to recall how Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy had promised to extend support to the UPA government whenever required.
