Submits 30,000 petitions to the DRO

KURNOOL: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supporters, led by district convener Somisetty Venkateswarlu, organised a protest at the collectorate seeking financial assistance to flood victims in the city.

After holding a demonstration, the TDP delegation presented 30,000 petitions of families who claimed to have not received any assistance from the government. The TDP alleged that 30,000 families had represented to them that no help had reached them. Mr. Somisetty criticised the Congress leaders who disbursed money in non-affected areas and ignored the genuine victims. He demanded probe into the disbursement of money to victims' families. The flood of applications to the TDP official indicated that the people had lost faith in the ruling party. District Revenue Officer Suryaprakash received the representations.
